I formally request that the City Council not approve rezoning any part of Colwood Golf Course from open space to industrial.

Colwood is one of the last parts of the environmentally sensitive and diverse Columbia Slough area that has not been lost to industrial development. 

The area surrounding Colwood is extremely deficient in parkland, natural areas, and other open space. Loss of the last significant open space in this area means that this deficiency will never be adequately addressed.

Transition of this area from open space to industrial will result in new air, water, and noise pollution sources and will have a pronounced impact on the health of local residents and the environment.

For all of these reasons, I strongly  encourage the Mayor and  Commissioners to vote against rezoning any part of Colwood to industrial.
